Book Binding with BatCat Press at the MCL!

Last Saturday, the Millvale Community Library and Tupelo Honey Teas hosted the young entrepreneurs at BatCat Press for a special book-binding class! BatCat Press is an independent publisher run entirely by high school students. The press specializes in producing handmade, limited-edition publications of new works by new and established authors. Our hosts, Deanna Barringer and Olivia Smith, helped participants build and bind their own custom book ornaments that they could use for writing or decoration. Book Binding with BatCat Press at the MCL!

This Saturday, December 10th, from 10:30am to 12:00pm, the Millvale Community Library will be hosting a special adult maker program on book binding with BatCat Press! BatCat Press is the only high school student-run printing press in the whole country, and we are lucky enough to have them coming to teach us how to bind books! We will be making small hardcover book ornaments (3″x4″) which can be used to record holiday memories from years’ past, and hung on your tree! Those interested can register here. Get into the Holiday spirit and join the Millvale Community Library for the Steel City Shakespeare Center’s presentation of Charles Dickens’ classic story, “A Christmas Carol.” “A Christmas Carol” follows the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, an old and greedy businessman who despises all things Christmas.
